TC45 - Office Open XML Formats News about the last results ECMA-376 3rd edition has been approved and is available here. Upcoming meetings Regular TC45 conference calls are held. The last teleconference was held on 25 January 2012. The last face-to-face meeting of TC45 took place on 23 July 2008 in London (UK). The ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Ballot Resolution Meeting took place on February 25-29, 2008, in Geneva (Switzerland). Ecma has set up for that meeting a new online portal to facilitate the disposition of comments on ISO/IEC DIS 29500 ballots "Information technology - Office Open XML file formats" and invites ISO, IEC and ISO/IEC JTC 1 National Bodies which have submitted comments on ISO/IEC DIS 29500 to get information regarding the proposed disposition of the comments here. Since then maintenance of ISO/IEC 29500 is being done in ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 34/WG 4. Ecma TC45 is well represented in the maintenance team. The schedule of those meetings can be found on the SC 34 website. Activities The Ecma International Technical Committee TC45 has been working to establish a standard for Office Open XML File Formats as described in its programme of work. The committee's work began in December 2005, and has continued via regular weekly or bi-weekly 2-hour conference calls and 7 face-to-face meetings. The Ecma General Assembly approved the Final Draft as Standard ECMA-376 in December 2006 and Ecma submitted the standard to ISO/IEC JTC 1 for fast-track processing. At the end of the one-month first phase of the DIS 29500 fast-track, TC45 provided the disposition of comments, also in document TC45/2007/006, to be found at: http://www.ecma-international.org/news/TC45_current_work/Ecma%20responses.pdf After the ballot closed on September 2, 2007, TC45 continued its very active involvment by supporting the ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Editor who was tasked to produce a proposed disposition of all comments received during the ballot period. TC45 conducted thorough discussions of all comments submitted together with the ballots, using the wide technical expertise of its members to help develop the best possible proposals to answer National Body comments, including by confirming their proposed resolutions or proposing alternate solutions. Since the adoption of ISO/IEC 29500 in 2008 the maintenance and further development of ISO/IEC 29500 is being done with TC45 participation into JTC 1 SC 34/WG 4 . The approved corrigenda and amendments are being incorporated into a new ECMA-376 edition to be approved by the Ecma General Assembly in June 2011.Participation The following organizations have participated in the work of Ecma TC45 and their contributions are gratefully acknowledged: Apple, Barclays Capital, BP, The British Library, Essilor, The Gnome Foundation, Intel, The Library of Congress, Microsoft, NextPage, Novell, Statoil, and Toshiba. Liaisons TC45 has an active liaison with ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34; the TC45 liaison officer is Rex Jaeschke. TC45 also has an active liaison with Ecma TC46, and an active liaison with the DIN Committee on Interoperability.
