Continued progress in addressing National Body comments for DIS 29500 – Final disposition report due next week

7 January 2008 - Ecma TC45 has been making continued progress on the comment review process, supporting the ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Project Editor’s deadline to deliver a comprehensive report on Ecma’s proposed dispositions on 14 January.

Today’s batch of proposed dispositions brings the total number of items TC45 has responded to thus far to 3252, or 92.3% of the 3,522 total comments received across all 87 voting countries who participated in the September 2007 ballot.

Ecma TC45 has been heavily focused on improving the Open XML standard by defining recommendations based on the technical feedback from the National Body members.

Prior status reports (click here) contain information about some of the significant issues that we have reviewed over the past few months. This new batch of proposed dispositions includes some additional technical items – such as fully adopting the ISO standard ISO/IEC 10118-3 for password hashing and advances in internationalization – that we believe will also be welcomed by many of the National Body members participating in this process.

Ecma TC45, together with the Project Editor, will publish dispositions for the remaining National Body comments in concert with the full disposition report early next week.

We look forward to continued cooperation and collaboration with ISO, IEC, and ISO/IEC JTC 1.
